UAB Visatex is a clothing industry company based in Visaginas , Lithuania . The products are exported to Scandinavia and Western Europe (UK, Germany) and sold there. There are 617 employees in the company. On April 30, 1998 the first trade union (UAB “Visatex” darbininkų sąjunga) was established. The second trade union UAB "VISATEX" profesinė sąjunga "SOLIDARUMAS" was founded on December 5th, 2000. The company was founded on July 14th, 1997. In 2000 UAB Visatex employed 1,018 people and in 1999 achieved a turnover of 11.951 million litas (3.2 million euros). The company employs the seamstresses from Sri Lanka , as there are none among the 2,300 unemployed in the city of Visaginas. In January 2013 alone, 27 new Sri Lankan women were accepted.
