Viscount Bangor
Viscount Bangor , of Castle Ward in the County of Downe , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
Award and subordinate titles
The title was given on January 11, 1781 to the politician Bernard Ward, 1st Baron Bangor . He had been a member of the Irish House of Commons from 1745 to 1770 . On May 30, 1770, he was also in the Peerage of Ireland, the subordinate title Baron Bangor , of Castle Ward in the County of Down, was awarded.
Today's title holder has been his descendant William Ward, 8th Viscount Bangor , since 1993 .
