Viscount Colville of Culross

Viscount Colville of Culross , in the County of Perth , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was created on July 12, 1902 for Charles Colville, 10th Lord Colville of Culross . He was a well-known conservative politician and sat on the board of various railway companies. He also held several important offices at court .

Subordinate title

An ancestor of the first Viscount, an important soldier of his time, had been raised to Lord Colville of Culross on April 25, 1604 and again on January 20, 1609 . As Lordship of Parliament, this title belongs to the Peerage of Scotland .

The first Viscount had already been awarded the title of Baron Colville of Culross , in the County of Perth, on December 31, 1885 . This title gave him a seat in the House of Lords . He belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom.

Both dignities are now listed as subordinate titles.
