Viscount Lifford
Viscount Lifford , of Lifford in the County of Donegal , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
Award and subordinate titles
The title was bestowed on January 8, 1781, to the Lord Chancellor of Ireland James Hewitt, 1st Baron Lifford . This had already been given the subordinate title Baron Lifford , of Lifford in the County of Donegal, on January 9, 1768 .
Today's title holder has been his descendant Edward Hewitt as the 9th Viscount since 1987 .
