Viscount Stonehaven
Viscount Stonehaven , of Ury in the County of Kincardine , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was created on June 27, 1938 for the Conservative politician and former Governor General of Australia John Baird, 1st Baron Stonehaven . Already on June 12, 1925 he had been raised to Baron Stonehaven , of Ury in the County of Kincardine and in 1920 he had inherited the Baird Baronet of Urie created in 1897 from his father Alexander Baird .
His son and heir as the 2nd Viscount inherited the title of 12th Earl of Kintore from his mother in 1974 . The Viscountcy has since been listed as a subordinate title to the Earl.
