Viscount Thurso

Viscount Thurso , of Ulbster in the County of Caithness , is a hereditary British nobility title of the Peerage of the United Kingdom , named after the Scottish city of Thurso .

Award and subordinate titles

The title was created on April 10, 1952 for the Scottish Liberal politician and former Minister of Aviation Sir Archibald Sinclair, 4th Baronet .

In 1912 he had inherited the title Baronet , of Ulbster in the County of Caithness, created on February 14, 1786 for his great-great-grandfather John Sinclair of Ulbster in the Baronetage of Great Britain , which has since been used as a subordinate title of Viscount becomes.

The Viscount family residence is Orchard Cottage near Champneys in Hertfordshire .
