Visceromegaly

Under a Viszeromegalie (also Splanchnomegalie ) refers to an abnormal enlargement of internal organs . This usually occurs due to increased secretion of the hormone somatotropin (STH) after the growth phase has ended. Visceromegaly is usually associated with acromegaly .

Visceromegaly can u. a. also be a symptom of a nephroblastoma or a Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome as well as a Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome and Perlman syndrome .

Depending on the organ affected, one can further distinguish between cardiomegaly ( heart ), hepatomegaly ( liver ), splenomegaly ( spleen ) and hepatosplenomegaly (liver and spleen).
