Vitallium

Vitallium is an alloy that is largely composed of cobalt , chromium and molybdenum . The alloy is mainly used for implants and the blades of gas turbines and is a registered trade name of Pfizer Hospital Products Group, Inc. The best known manufacturer of Vitallium is International Nickel .

application areas

Implants
In orthopedic surgery , it is used for artificial joints and other implants.
dentures
For the production of model cast prostheses , because it causes practically no allergic reactions , is corrosion-resistant and light. (See chrome-cobalt-molybdenum alloy )
Gas turbines
With the type designation Haynes Alloy 21 , Vitallium is used for the construction of gas turbine blades that are subject to high thermal and mechanical loads.
Chemical container
Vitallium containers are used for the storage of aggressive chemicals , as the containers are not attacked at all or only minimally due to the resilience of the alloy.
