Vital substances, diseases of civilization : life, health, nutrition, environment was the official organ of the " International Society for Research on Nutrition and Vital Substances " (IVG), which in 1968 was renamed the "International Society for Research into Diseases of Civilization and Vital Substances" (IVG). The journal appeared under the name Vitalstoff, Zivilisationskrankheiten from 1958 to 1970 and was the successor to the association organ Vitalstoff: Nutrition and Vital Substance Research, Trace Elements , which IVG published in 1956/57.

In 1971 the journal Protectio vitae followed : Umweltforschung ( ZDB -ID 123843-7 ). It also included annual reports from the Congress and over the years expanded the range of topics to be published. Most recently the " International Scientific Academy for the Protection of Life, Environment and Biopolitics " was the publisher. With the disintegration of IVG in 1972, the magazine ceased to appear.
