Vitanas GmbH & Co. KGaA is a private nursing home operator based in Berlin.

history

The company was founded in 1969 at the suggestion of the former Governing Mayor of Berlin, Pastor Heinrich Albertz . In September 2006 Vitanas was taken over by the Zehnacker Group . In January 2007, a 50% stake in the twelve municipal nursing homes in Hamburg (Pflege und Wohnen Hamburg GmbH) was taken over in a joint venture . As part of the sale of Zehnacker to the French Sodexo group, Vitanas was separated from the Zehnacker group in December 2008 and acquired by its main shareholders at the time, the Burkart family. On August 14, 2017, the previous managing director Nikolai P. Burkart announced the sale of Vitanas Holding and Pflege und Wohnen Hamburg GmbH to Oaktree Capital .

Services

Vitanas offers outpatient and inpatient care and support for seniors, care for people with intellectual disabilities or mental illnesses, treatment of geriatric patients and training of nursing staff.

Vitanas employed a total of 4,400 people in 5/2017. 1,800 employees worked for PFLEGEN & WOHNEN HAMBURG. The offer comprised 5,685 places (5,137 nursing, 205 clinics, 343 inclusions), 1,607 of them in Berlin (1,382 nursing, 105 clinics and 120 inclusions) and 2,691 at PFLEGEN & WOHNEN HAMBURG. Sales for 2016 amounted to € 201 million (preliminary), at PFLEGEN & WOHNEN HAMBURG € 132 million (preliminary).
