Viveros de Coyoacan

Viveros de Coyoacan ( span. For nurseries of Coyoacán ) is a 39 hectare large park in the district of Coyoacán of the Mexican capital, Mexico City .

history

The park was built on a site that was previously part of Rancho Panzacola and was donated by engineer Miguel Ángel de Quevedo (1862-1946).

In the 1930s, the then Mexican President Lázaro Cárdenas del Río (1895–1970) declared the area a national park and founded Mexico's first tree nursery.

present

Part of the park is reserved for tree nurseries and floriculture. The rest of the park area is available to the public.
