Vlaketunnel
The Vlaketunnel is a twin -tube motorway tunnel in the Dutch province of Zeeland . The tunnel is part of the A58 from Eindhoven to Vlissingen . The tunnel planning began in the 1960s because an increase in shipping traffic on the canal through Zuid-Beveland was expected and a bridge construction would have been too expensive. Construction began in 1972 and the tunnel was opened in 1976. The tunnel was renovated in 2010.
The tunnel has a total length of 774 m, while the actual tunnel section has a length of 327 m. The remaining 450 m are for entry and exit. The width of the tunnel is 29.80 m.
