Non-woven wallpaper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The non-woven wallpaper is a wall covering with a carrier material made of cellulose .

It is considered to be particularly hard-wearing, easy to process and flame-retardant. The material can also bridge small cracks in the plaster substrate . Different surfaces are offered, ranging from completely smooth to rough embossing patterns to printed ready-made non-woven wallpapers.

properties

The main difference between non-woven wallpapers and conventional ones lies in the carrier material. This usually consists of a vapor diffusion-open combination of cellulose and textile fibers , which ensure a hard-wearing wall covering.

The structured surfaces are created differently depending on the manufacturer, through embossing of the base material or through foamed plastics ( PVC ).

processing

Non-woven wallpapers do not have to be coated with the wallpaper paste or soaked with this, but can be applied in dry strips to the wall coated with a special adhesive for non-woven. In contrast to other types of wallpaper, the fleece wall covering remains unchanged. It expands when damp neither from nor shrinks it in the drying process .

In the case of non-woven wallpapers that are already colored or patterned, the surface to be wallpapered should be of a uniform color, as the non-woven backing is more translucent than the conventional paper backing. The industry provides primers especially for wallpapering non-woven wallpapers, which are pigmented white and are often referred to as "wallpaper primer white" or "wallpaper primer white".

The removal of a non-woven wallpaper is easier than with conventional ones, they are peeled off dry in strips. This is possible because the tensile strength of the fleece fabric is higher than the adhesive effect of the paste substrate.
