Marcel Dadi

Marcel Dadi (born August 20, 1951 in Sousse , Tunisia , † July 17, 1996 over the Atlantic Ocean off Long Island ) was a French guitarist who was famous for his fingerpicking style, which was based on the instrumental styles of his American models Chet Atkins , Merle Travis and Jerry Reed continued. Dadi later became friends with Chet Atkins, who also became his best man. Dadi died on the way back from his inclusion in Nashville's Walkway of Stars at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in a plane crash ( Trans-World Airlines Flight 800 ).

Dadi lived in Tunisia for the first three years before his Arab- Jewish family moved with him to France. In 1983 Marcel Dadi immigrated to Israel and lived for a few years in Eilat on the Red Sea with his wife and newborn son. A good friend of the family, Eric Clapton visited him there in 1988. He moved back to France for the last years of his life. After his tragic death, his remains were recovered from the sea, as were those of most of the other victims. His tomb is on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem .
