Vog (unit)
The Vog , even with (the) balance , (the) balance and (the) Waag designated or Wog was an old measure of weight. It was true in Russia , Norway and Denmark .
This measure was used in the tobacco, hemp and fish trade ( stockfish ). In Denmark feathers and tallow were also weighed with it and the Norwegian weight measure applied. In Russia the weight was 1/6 lighter than the Norwegian and it was:
- 1 Vog = 30 pounds
In Norway:
- 1 Vog = 36 pounds = 17.979 grams
- 1 Vog = 3 Bismar / Bismer pounds = 36 pounds = 18 kilograms
- 1 ship load (with stockfish) = 70 Vog = 2520 pounds
