The Vogelpark Olching is located 20 km west of Munich . Tiger finches , cranes , storks , rheas and various species of parrots can be seen on 20,000 m² .

The park is particularly characterized by its natural location in the Amperauen . All aviaries are planted. The river water flows through all the ponds in the park. The rear part of the park is a dense alluvial forest and serves as a retreat area for the numerous wild birds, demarcated and not accessible to visitors, but can be clearly seen.
The unspoilt nature of the adjacent nature reserve on the Amper River attracts rare native birds such as kingfishers and orioles . There are 40 nesting holes in the park area, which provide additional space for the offspring.
Separated from the bird parks, there is a beer garden and a playground. The operator of the park is the bird lover's association Olching und Umgebung eV
history
The association has existed since 1968 and has 120 members.
Since the members of the association wanted to keep animals in a species-appropriate manner and not in the apartment, they decided to create their own bird park with large aviaries and plenty of space. Only then did the animals come. The raptors come from u. a. from confiscations by customs or offspring from zoos who did not know what to do with the birds. In addition, numerous species of the active bird breeders of the association found shelter in the park. The bird population has increased over the past 20 years.
The bird park has been open to visitors since 1982, and guided tours for kindergartens / school classes etc. are held regularly.
