The Voigt & Schweitzer GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Gelsenkirchen is a Europe-wide medium-sized group with a focus in the field of surface treatment of steel . It employs around 2,000 people at 35 locations in five countries.

It has been completely family-owned by Fontaine Holding NV since 2010. This is why the company is exempt from its own consolidated financial statements in accordance with Section 264b of the German Commercial Code , which has been provided by the holding company since 2009.

The registered product brands Durozinq , Colorzinq , Microzinq and Ecozinq , under which surfaces based on zinc are offered with optimized protective performance, function and appearance, are used in the steel processing industry.

history

In 1889 the main plant was founded in Gelsenkirchen . In 1960 the main factory was taken over and Voigt & Schweitzer was founded by Robert Voigt. In 1980 there was a first participation in the Netherlands . In 1985 the Henssler Group was taken over in southern Germany. In 1989 the construction of the first powder coating plant began . In 1990 the first galvanizing plant in the new federal states was taken over. In 1993 the construction of the first large-scale galvanizing plant in the new federal states began. In 1995 the first investment in Belgium followed . In 1998 the company's founder Robert Voigt died.

In 2000 the first galvanizing plant was founded in Poland. In 2001 a stake in a Dutch galvanizing group followed. In 2004 the first Microzinq system was put into operation in Hagen .
