Volbert Alexander

Volbert Alexander (born September 30, 1944 in Gießen ) is a German economist and professor emeritus at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen.

Career

After studying economics in Giessen, Alexander received his doctorate in 1972 from the University of Konstanz and habilitated there in 1976. He also worked as a lecturer at the University of Giessen from 1974 to 1980. This was followed by substitute professorships at the University of Trier from 1977 to 1978 and at the University of Siegen from 1979 to 1980. In 1980, Alexander received a professorship at the University of Siegen, where he taught from 1980 to 1986. In the same year he was appointed to the University of Giessen, where he held a professorship for money, credit and currency (VWL V) until his retirement in October 2009. From 1997 to 1999 he was also chief economist and head of research at Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank as well as an asset management consultant at Hypovereinsbank .
