Volker Nienhaus

Volker Nienhaus (born July 19, 1951 in Essen ) is a German economist .

Volker Nienhaus studied economics at the Ruhr University in Bochum from 1970 to 1974 . After doctorate (1979) and habilitation (1985) in Bochum, he was professor of economics there from 1985 to 1989 . From 1989 to 1990 he taught at the University of Trier . He then returned to the Ruhr University in Bochum, where he held the chair for economic policy. From 1997 to 1999 he was dean of the business faculty of the Ruhr University. In research and teaching, it concentrates on the one hand on the sectoral division of the economy, especially the theories of sectoral change and research policy. On the other hand, international economic policy, especially that of Arab and Asian countries, is another research focus. From 2003 to 2010 he was President of the Philipps University in Marburg .
