history

On January 12, 1873, the inaugural meeting of the "advance bank for the Riedlingen district" took place as a registered cooperative. The advance bank, which was founded as a self-help for merchants, craftsmen and small businesses, started business on February 12, 1873 in the house of the cashier JF Gröber at Haldenstrasse 6. The bank joined the Württemberg cooperative association, which was then based in Ulm, in 1894. Wilhelm Bröckel was hired as the first apprentice in 1902. At the peak of his career, Bröckel was director of the Württemberg Cooperative Association and the Central Bank of Württembergischer Volksbanken from 1948 to 1956.

The previous advance bank changed its company name in 1921 to “Gewerbebank Riedlingen eGmbH”.

In 1923 the bank moved the business premises to the Martini house at Lange Straße 15. The bank now changed its name to “Gewerbe- und Landwirtschaftsbank Riedlingen eGmbH”. In 1928 the bank built a new bank building on the site of the former Kehle'schen Sägmühle on the Danube bridge.

In 1941 the name was changed to "Volksbank Riedlingen eGmbH".

Since 1993 the bank has operated as "Volksbank-Raiffeisenbank Riedlingen eG".
