The People's Bank Kronberg was a popular bank based in Kronberg im Taunus and merged in 1970 with the Frankfurter Volksbank .

In 1862 the advance payment association for Cronberg & the surrounding area was founded as a cooperative bank . The founders Georg Jamin (later Kronberg's mayor and member of parliament), Wilhelm Neubronner (later member of the Reichstag), Friedrich Löwe, Peter Gottschalk, Carl Stein and Georg Becker provided the starting capital of 52 guilders .

The bank grew rapidly and at the end of the business year 1862/63 had 193 members and deposits of 43,214 marks. In 1888 the now 311 members received a dividend of 6%. The deposits had grown to 184,452 marks (in today's purchasing power 1,333,986 euros).

In 1922 the bank changed its name to Vereinsbank Kronberg . The hyperinflation devalues the deposits and loans of the bank almost completely. In 1923, after the inflation, the balance sheet total was just 9,800 marks (in today's purchasing power 40,641 euros), of which 3,100 marks were own funds.

In 1970, after many years of negotiations, the bank merged with Frankfurter Volksbank. At the time of the merger, Kronberger Volksbank had 2,200 members, 30 million DM savings deposits and total assets of 41 million DM.
