history

Volksbank Nordoberpfalz was founded in 1923 as a commercial bank in Weiden for employed medium- sized businesses in Weiden and the surrounding area. The first board member was Otto Zahn until 1967. In 1943 the “Gewerbebank Weiden” was given the new name “Volksbank Weiden eGmbH”. The bank building at Wörthstraße 14 in Weiden in Upper Palatinate has existed since 1954. The branch in Floß was opened in 1965. Ernst Pärr and Ernst Fischer took over the duties of Otto Zahn in 1967 and continued to run the Volksbank. 1968 saw the opening of two further branches in Peuerlstrasse and in the Hammerweg district. Four years later the branch in Erbendorf and the subsidiary City Reisen opened .

In 1976 the bank opened a branch in Altenstadt an der Waldnaab, and in 1978 another in Pressather Strasse in Weiden. In 1981 Volksbank founded City Immobilien GmbH and implemented the "Anker West" project. In 1985 the company opened an office on Frauenrichter Strasse. In 1987 Ernst Fischer and Gerhard Ludwig took over the management of the bank as board members. In the same year the Volksbank Windischeschenbach and the Volksbank Weiden merged. The branch in Neustadt an der Waldnaab has existed since 1992 and the supervisor center at Wörthstrasse 9 in Weiden since 1994.

In 1997, Rudolf Winter succeeded Ernst Fischer as a member of the board. In 1997/98 the bank building at Wörthstrasse 14 in Weiden was completely renovated. In 1999 Volksbank Weiden merged with Volksbank Tirschenreuth and Raiffeisenbank to form Volksbank Nordoberpfalz eG. In 2001 Josef Sindersberger took over the chairmanship of the supervisory board and Josef Kürner was appointed as his successor. In 2009 a branch was inaugurated in Vohenstrauß. A year later, the service and advice center was built in Tirschenreuth. In 2013 the bank set up a community foundation.

On January 1, 2016, Rudolf Winter took over from Gerhard Ludwig: Thomas Ludwig and Rainer Lukas were also members of the board at that time.

On September 9, 2017, the merger with Raiffeisenbank Weiden eG and Raiffeisenbank im Stiftland eG to form Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Nordoberpfalz eG, based in Weiden.

The new bank has 41 branches, 8 self-service branches and 9 retail outlets.

education

The Volksbank Nordoberpfalz has hired an average of six trainees per year over the past few years. Since 2007, a combined course, i.e. a combination of banking and business administration studies at the East Bavarian Technical University of Amberg-Weiden , has been offered. In addition to the normal bank apprenticeship, the bank is for the first time offering a combination of training and technical college entrance qualification for the beginning of 2015.
