Popular mission of resolute Christians
The People's Mission of Resolute Christians (abbreviation VMeC) is an association in the Federation of Free Church Pentecostal Congregations .
history
The People's Mission was founded in 1934 by the journalist Karl Fix (1897–1969) in Berlin . From 1945 onwards, new parishes emerged, especially in southern Germany. The association has around 50 communities in Baden-Württemberg , Bavaria and Berlin with around 4,300 members. The highest decision-making body is the assembly of delegates, which meets twice a year.
The people's mission is part of the worldwide Pentecostal movement . In 1988 the association became a member of the Bund Freikirchlicher Pfingstgemeinden . Through him she is also a member of the Association of Evangelical Free Churches . The popular mission sees itself as part of the community of Jesus , to which all believers in Christ belong. It is also a member of the ACK Baden-Württemberg .
Teaching
The popular mission is committed to the baptism of the Spirit , but does not require any obligatory accompanying phenomena such as speaking in tongues as proof of authenticity . The People's Mission sees its task in conveying the Gospel to people of all walks of life and of all ages, planting churches and promoting existing ones. She also maintains several social institutions. Since 1956 she has also been active in foreign missions.
