The People's Party of Finland , Finnish : Suomen Kansanpuolue (KP), Swedish : Finska Folkpartiet , was a liberal party that existed from 1951 to 1965. In elections to the Finnish Reichstag , it reached between six and eight percent.

The party was founded on February 3, 1951 in Helsinki by members of the National Progressive Party (Kansallinen Edistyspuolue), founded in 1918, and the Independent Middle Class (Itsenäinen Keskiluokka). Forest scientist Eino Saari became the first party chairman .

In the 1962 presidential election, the Communist Party renounced its own candidate. The vast majority supported the re-election of President Urho Kekkonen . A small minority took part in an electoral list with the conservative rallying party and the Liberal Bund , but without putting up their own candidate.

In 1965 the People's Party of Finland went together with the Liberal Bund in the new Liberal People's Party .
