The Liberals ( Finnish : Liberaalit ) are a liberal party in Finland . Until 2001 it was called the Liberal People's Party (Finnish: Liberaalinen Kansanpuolue, LKP ; Swedish: Liberala Folkpartiet ).

The Liberal People's Party was formed in 1965 from the merger of the People's Party of Finland (Suomen Kansanpuolue) and the Liberal League (Vapaamielisten Liitto) . The party was represented in the Finnish parliament from 1966 to 1979 and from 1991 to 1995. Its election results have almost consistently fallen since it was founded and have been below one percent since 1987.

In the 2011 parliamentary elections , the Liberals no longer ran independently. Its members ran on the lists of the Finnish Pirate Party .
