Content profile

According to its own program, the main focus of the People's Party was patriotism , a strengthening of social policy and a moral renewal of Russia. The ideology is very blurry and a mixture of social democratic, nationalist and populist elements. The party was counted on the near-government spectrum of the political landscape in Russia and was sometimes seen as an artificial foundation to compete with the communist KPRF .

History of the party

The party was founded in 2001. In the elections to the Russian State Duma in 2003, it only achieved 1.1% and was therefore unable to enter parliament directly. However, up to 2007 it had 44 members who came to the Duma as independents and then joined the People's Party. Although the party was active in 65 Russian regions, it was often weak locally and permanently threatened by the electoral laws. So she was soon planning a collaboration with the pro-government party Just Russia, founded in 2006 . Probably because of the existential poverty caused by the political system in Russia, she joined the larger Just Russia party in 2007.
