Full board ( English full board or, more rarely, American plan ) is the term for a type of board during a travel stay, for example in a hotel or on a cruise ship .

definition

According to DIN EN ISO 18513 No. 2.4.4 , full board includes breakfast , lunch and dinner in addition to accommodation . If one of these meals is missing, one speaks of half board (DIN EN ISO 18513 no.2.4.3).

The relevant DIN EN ISO 18513 (terminology and definitions of tourism services) does not expressly state anything about beverages : Nos. 2.4.2 to 2.4.4 are limited to the listing of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only in entry no. 2.4.5 for All Inclusive are drinks also described as content. The simple breakfast should according to No. 3.1.1Include "at least bread, butter, jam and / or jam and a hot drink". In the tourist area, an extended breakfast or a breakfast buffet with additional food and drinks is usually offered. Drinks for lunch or dinner are usually not included when booking full board.

"Full board plus" is sometimes also offered as a meal option. In addition to the full board services, drinks are included with the meal or a snack between meals.

In travel documents, full board is often abbreviated as V or VP. There is, however, no uniform abbreviation.
