Voltahalle Basel

The Voltahalle is a former industrial hall and today's multi-purpose hall in the city of Basel with a capacity for around 600 people. It is located at the bridgehead of the Dreirosenbrücke in the St. Johann district and is mainly used for concerts and dance events, art exhibitions and private events. In front of the Voltahalle is the eponymous Voltaplatz, which is named after the Italian engineer Alessandro Volta .

Originally, the building was used as a coal warehouse by the Industrielle Werken Basel (IWB) . After the IWB no longer needed the hall, the building was opened as Voltahalle in 2001 after being converted into an event space by the canton.

The building is 40 meters long, 14 meters wide and 12 meters high and offers around 600 square meters of floor space. A striking feature is the 400 square meter window front.
