Voltaire program

The Voltaire Program is a six-month mutual exchange program with France that is supported by the German and French governments. It was launched by both governments at the Franco-German summit in Potsdam in 1998 at the suggestion of Brigitte Sauzay . The program is carried out by the Center Français de Berlin on behalf of the FGYO and in cooperation with the Pedagogical Exchange Service.

Program content

The program is aimed at pupils in the 8th, 9th and 10th grade (deviations depending on the federal state are possible) who want to spend 6 months in France with a host family and attend school. The German program participant takes his French partner into his family for 6 months and spends the following 6 months with the French partner's family. The exchange partner can be placed by the organizers of the program; Existing exchange couples can also apply.

The program is free of charge for the participants because it is reciprocal and is supported by the DFJW with a travel allowance and a cultural portfolio of € 250.

Period

  • 1) March to August: stay of the French partner in Germany
  • 2) September to February of the following year: stay in France

canditature

The application takes place via an online form. The complete printed application is submitted via the school to the responsible school authority. The application documents will be available from July. The application must be submitted by October or the beginning of November (depending on the federal state).

Competent Authorities
