Volumetric lighting is a 3D computer graphics technique that is used e.g. B. is used in computer games and 3D graphics suites such as Blender . It enables rays of light to be made visible . The cone of light emanating from a light source is modeled as a transparent three-dimensional object and can thus be viewed as a container of a volume. This creates the possibility of applying effects to media (such as smoke , dust , mist or steam ) passing through this volume , e.g. B. to simulate the scattering of light on small dust particles.
