Book from Deutsche Poeterey

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buch von der Deutschen Poeterey is the title of a work by Martin Opitz on poetics in the German language published in 1624 , the first ever German-language rule poetics. It contained rules for rule-based poetry for almost all genres. “But so that the syllables and words are brought right into the rhymes / the following teachings are to be observed.” (Chapter 7).

"He transferred the system of French genre poetics with apodictic laconism into German and, through his suggestions, determined the pigeonhole division of aesthetics into the 19th century."
