End cutter

A front cutter or front cutter is a pair of pliers for cutting wires.

It resembles a pair of pliers , from which it differs in that it has a shorter head and thus greater leverage, and the shape of the cutting edge is a side cutter . It has asymmetrical cutting edges with which protruding wires can be cut off flush in cramped working conditions. In contrast to side cutters, the cutting edges run across the pliers handles (90 ° or at an angle). Therefore, such pliers are mainly used as electronics tools.

A special type of end cutter is the lever end cutter . These pliers, mostly in the 200 mm class or larger, are used to pinch off wires, nails and screws. A transmission mechanism that is second to the lever leads to greater cutting force.

Since the head opens less widely due to the changed geometry compared to pliers, the gripping function takes a back seat.
