Vulture is a North Rhine-Westphalian speed and thrash metal band that was founded in 2015.

history

After Stefan “Genözider” left the band Obsessör in 2015 , he decided to found Vulture. In addition to him on drums and electric guitar, the line-up consisted of singer Leo “Steeler”, guitarist Mattes “Outlaw” and bassist Andreas “Axetinctör”. After the 2016 EP Victim to the Blade , the debut album The Guillotine was released the following year on High Roller Records . The song Vendetta was released as a single in the same year , with a cover of the Deep Purple song Stormbringer as the B-side . The recordings for the album began after New Year's Eve 2016 and - as with the EP - took place in the Hellforge Studio under the direction of Marco Brinkmann . At the end of February 2017, Brinkmann had finished mixing the material. The songs were finally mastered by Patrick W. Engel in his Temple of Disharmony Studios .

style

Andreas Schiffmann from Rock Hard noted that the band sounds like American speed metal on the debut album . In an interview with him, Stefan “Genözider” stated that the lyrics of the album were influenced by horror films , which was a first for the members. He left it open whether this theme would also be retained for the following albums. A previous issue, Schiffmann had reviewed The Guillotine . On the previous EP, the group oriented itself more towards bands like Razor and Agent Steel than towards Sodom and Kreator . On the album, the group weighs “genre-appropriate dullness in an appealing way against upscale instrumental craft”. The singing has recognition value and is clearly understandable. Konstantin Michaely from Metal Hammer also reviewed the album and described the music as high quality Thrash Metal, although you can hardly tell that it is a debut album as the group sounds much more experienced. Many songs are well composed and arranged , and he also certifies the quality of the singing. He found the keyboard and synthesizer inserts used in the quieter passages, which sound too artificial and sterile, less appropriate.
