Vytautas Grubliauskas (born December 1, 1956 in Klaipėda ) is a Lithuanian jazz musician, music teacher and liberal politician . He has been the mayor of Klaipėda Municipality since 2011 .

Life

After attending the 2nd Klaipėda Children's Music School and graduating from the 4th Middle School in Klaipėda in 1975, he graduated from the Klaipėda Faculty of Lietuvos valstybinė konservatorija in 1980 . From 1980 to 1982 he did compulsory service in the Soviet Army in Riga ( Latvia ), where he was orchestra soloist and concert master .

Since 1984 he has been teaching at the Lietuvos valstybinė konservatorija (now the art faculty of Klaipėdos universitetas ), from 1996 to 2004 as head of the chair for jazz music. As a jazz trumpeter , Vytautas Grubliauskas appeared as a member of various formations at numerous concerts at home and abroad. From 1994 to 2004 he was the organizer of the annual Klaipėda Jazz Festival.

Grubliauskas has been a member of Lietuvos liberalų sąjūdis since 2006 . From 2008 to 2011 he was a member of the Seimas . He has been the mayor of Klaipėda since 2011.
