Wàn Guó Gōng Bào

The Wàn Guó Gōng Bào ( Chinese  万 国 公报  /  萬 國 公報 , Pinyin Wàn Guó Gōng Bào , W.-G. Wan Kwoh Kung Pao , English : A Review of the Times , The Globe magazine , literally: "Die Zeitschrift der Zehntausend ( of all) countries ") was a monthly in China , which appeared from 1868 to 1907. It was founded and published by the American Methodist missionary Young John Allen . It appeared between 1868 and 1874 under the name Kiao Hwei Sing Pao . The contents included a wide range of articles on the politics of the European states and America to the virtues and advantages of Christianity .

In the 39 years of publication, the magazine reached many influential personalities and gave important impetus for reforms in China. The reformers of the Qing Dynasty , Kang Youwei , commented once about his education: "I owe my devotion to reform, especially the writings of two missionaries, the Rev. Timothy Richard and the Rev. Dr. Young Allen."
