Guardian of Zwierzyniec

The Zwierzyniec Guardian is one of the thickest oak trees in the Białowieża National Park in Poland . It is located by the old forest ranger's hut - hence the peculiar name Wächter in the forest village of Zwierzyniec in the north of the protected area.
The tree has a circumference of 658 cm at a height of 130 cm above the base. The height is 37 m. The vital oak slopes considerably to the west, which certainly contributed to the increase in the trunk circumference at the base.
