The expression w00t (also woot , in spoken language "wuht" [ wuːt ]) is a slang interjection from net jargon to express exuberant joy - mostly about a thing that was successful despite difficulties or a surprising event.

Woot or w00t has established itself in almost all online games as an expression of surprise (e.g. "w00t, how did you do that?") Or as an exclamation when, after many attempts / a long wait, the desired object is finally in the " loot ”appears.

"W00t" is also a backronym for "We 0wned (the) 0ther team".

The term is mainly used in multiplayer computer games, on IRC and in IM protocols (such as ICQ , XMPP , Windows Live Messenger etc.) and in Internet forums . Occasionally “w00t” is also used in the spoken language. The expression "w00t" belongs to the Leetspeak . Therefore, a connection with “what” can also be established.

On December 11, 2007, visitors to the website of the well-known US dictionary Merriam-Webster named the expression "w00t" coined on the Internet as "Word of the Year".
