Wave file

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wave files are recordings of one or more (measurement) channels of one-dimensional vibrations stored as digital raw data . Often these are acoustic vibrations, but digital brain , cardiac current or earthquake recordings are also wave files, for example.

Formats

Wave files can be found, for example, as WAV files , audio CD , AIFF , Sun-AU or in the older Amiga-IFF (audio) . In measurement technology , the raw data are usually stored in proprietary formats , sometimes even without any additional information, if this is specified by the hardware used .
