WHIPS stands for Whiplash Protection System . This is a whiplash protection system developed by Volvo . This system was first presented in 1998 in the Volvo S80 and has been standard equipment on all new Volvo vehicles since 2000. WHIPS is integrated in both front seats.

functionality

In the event of a rear impact, the front seat can move a few centimeters backwards and tilt downwards by approx. 15 °. This movement catches the body and gently slows down its movement.

Volvo recommends in a vehicle with WHIPS large objects in the footwell of the Fund to make, otherwise the protective effect of this system could be affected. According to Volvo, there is no danger to the legs of people sitting in the rear of a WHIPS-equipped Volvo in the event of a rear impact.
