The WOGEDO (Wohnungsgenossenschaft Dusseldorf-Ost eG) is a company incorporated in 1919, housing association with 9,726 members (as of September 30 2015). The company's headquarters are in Düsseldorf-Lierenfeld .

WOGEDO emerged from the non-profit workers' building association Freiheit, which 152 workers founded together with their employer Albert Schöndorff on July 19, 1919. Due to the housing shortage after the end of the First World War , the members of the building association initially built 300 apartments. From the merger with three other cooperatives, the "Housing Cooperative Düsseldorf-Ost eG" was formed in 1942, which has been called WOGEDO since 1999 . WOGEDO's current housing stock comprises around 4,500 apartments. The WOGEDO portfolio also includes around 1,900 garages.

WOGEDO implements several replacement projects in Unterrath and Gerresheim. This will create over 200 new apartments. In addition to the apartments, WOGEDO also offers technical service. Membership is a prerequisite for moving into a WOGEDO apartment. This is achieved by joining and purchasing shares in the cooperative. A dividend is paid on the shares. This is currently 4%. In addition to membership, participation rights are also derived from the purchase of the cooperative shares.

There is lifelong right of residence and protection against termination for personal use. A cooperative cannot be sold. Sales of apartments are typically only made to members for the purpose of building ownership. Living with housing cooperatives is therefore often referred to as the third way between renting and owning, as it combines the flexibility of rental housing with the security of property.
