Vakhtangov Theater
The Moscow Vakhtangov Theater (also known as the State Academic Vakhtangov Theater Moscow, Russian Государственный академический театр имени Вахтангова ) is located on the Old Arbat , a popular pedestrian street in Moscow.
The theater is named after the Russian actor and theater director Evgeny Vakhtangov . In 1956 it received the honorary title of Academic Theater . The drama theater offers drama theater and guest performances by theaters from different regions of Russia . It also has a secondary educational institution, the Shchukin Theater School .
The artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theater, actor and director Mikhail Ulyanov , died on March 26, 2007. His successor was the Russian-Lithuanian director Rimas Tuminas .
