Election of the National Assembly on Saint Kitts and Nevis 2015

The 2015 National Assembly election on Saint Kitts and Nevis took place on February 16, 2015.

Election result

The opposition alliance Team Unit, consisting of the People's Action Movement (PAM), the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) and the People's Labor Party (PLP), led by former Foreign Minister Timothy Harris , ended the Labor Party's 20-year government ( SKNLP) by winning seven seats. The previous government coalition from the SKNLP and the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) could only win four seats. Prime Minister Denzil Douglas , who ruled since 1995, admitted defeat. Timothy Harris was sworn in as the new Prime Minister on February 23, making it only the third to assume the post since independence from Great Britain in 1983.

During the election campaign, the major parties focused on education, health care and job creation, as well as a proposal from Team Unity to exempt food and medicine from VAT .
