Denzil Douglas
Denzil Llewellyn Douglas (born January 14, 1953 in Saint Paul’s , St. Kitts ) is a politician from St. Kitts and Nevis . He was Prime Minister of his country from 1995 to 2015.
Douglas graduated from the University of the West Indies with a PhD . In 1989 he became chairman of the St Kitts and Nevis Labor Party ; in the same year he was first elected to the National Assembly. In 1995 he won the parliamentary elections with his party. On July 7, 1995, he took up his post as Prime Minister. After Denzil's party won only 4 out of 11 seats in the February 2015 general election, Timothy Harris was sworn in as the new Prime Minister on February 18, 2015 .
