Location of the municipality of Langewahl in the Oder-Spree district | ||
Langewahl ( Lower Sorbian Ławjele ) is a municipality in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg and part of the Scharmützelsee office .
geography
The place Langewahl, a typical German street village , is located southeast of Fürstenwalde south of the A12 motorway between the Spree and the Dubrow mountains on the Beeskower Platte .
Community structure
According to its main statute, the municipality has no districts. However, the two residential areas Forsthaus Langewahl and Streitberg are shown.
history
It is not possible to precisely state the foundation of the place, as there are no documentary evidence. The parish of Langewahl belonged to the parish of Neu Golm until its own church was built in 1953/1954. There are also no entries in the church register there about the founding time of Langewahl. In the second half of the 19th century the village school teacher wrote a chronicle. The founding year is named there with 1753.
Around 1750, Frederick II offered his captain Winkelmann land for reclamation near the town of Fürstenwalde due to special services in the Second Silesian War . After long deliberations - the choice of the location of his new home was not easy for him - Winkelmann then settled southeast of the city. There he built the first house in the area; other families were settled. The land required for this had to be ceded to farmers from Old and New Golm. In the search for a suitable name for the place, people remembered the long choice of the captain to choose this area and called him Langewahl.
In the course of the Frederician immigration policy and inland colonization , spinner and weaver families from Palatinate and Silesia came to the town around 1750 .
In 1933 the previously independent town of Streitberg was incorporated into Langewahl. The road to Streitberg was not completed until 2001.
Langewahl belonged to the Beeskow-Storkow district in the province of Brandenburg since 1836 and to the Fürstenwalde district in the GDR district of Frankfurt (Oder) from 1952 . The community has been in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg since 1993.
