The municipality of Wendisch Rietz joins in the south and the municipality of Rietz-Neuendorf in the east .
Community structure
According to its main statute, the Diensdorf-Radlow community has no local or community parts. The two formerly independent communities Diensdorf and Radlow are only living spaces within the (overall) community. Since January 1, 1962, Diensdorf and Radlow have merged to form one community.
history
Diensdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1490. The first entry of Radlow comes from the year 1445. However, prehistoric excavation finds show that the place was settled over 3400 years ago. While Radlow was the seat of a manor that came into the possession of the von Pfuel family in 1620 and belonged to the Löschebrand estates from 1634 to 1802 , Diensdorf remained more dominated by fishermen and farmers . The brickworks played a major role in both places in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The predominantly red brick houses still attest to this today. The expansion of the Storkower Canal from 1862 to 1865 resulted in a brisk ship transport to Berlin , which brought bricks from Radlow to Spandau for the expansion of the citadel there .
With the expansion of further transport connections such as rail and road construction, the villages began to develop into holiday destinations at the beginning of the 20th century. A boat yard was built in Diensdorf, which allowed water sports and tourism to grow in the town.
Diensdorf and Radlow have belonged to the Beeskow-Storkow district in the province of Brandenburg since 1836 and to the Fürstenwalde district in the GDR district of Frankfurt (Oder) from 1952 . Since 1993, the places have been in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg.
