Spreenhagen is an official municipality in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg . It is administered by the Spreenhagen office, which has its seat in the municipality.

history
Local history
Was first mentioned in a document Spreenhagen the Ottos over the territory of Fürstenwalder city forest in 1285. Many, still in use today Flurnamen but suggest a settlement already the Slavic period (ca. 600-1200) out. Tools and weapons from this period were found in the peat cuttings of the Spreenhagener Flur in the 19th century. Until the middle / end of the 18th century, Sorbian was still spoken in Spreenhagen .
At the beginning of the 14th century, the noble von Birkholz family received the places Markgrafpieske , Spreenhagen, Hartmannsdorf and Wernsdorf as a fief. Agriculture, hunting and fishing were the livelihoods of the Spreenhageners in the Middle Ages . In 1579, 84 inhabitants lived here, around 1800 approx. 370. Until the 19th century, the place remained a farming village, the old anger structure of which is still recognizable today. With the construction of the Oder-Spree Canal , boatmen settled in the village. At this time, gravel mining and the first settlement of businesses began. In 1967 the industrial mast combine (KIM) was established. In connection with the settlement of the KIM, the new building area on the Oder-Spree Canal, a school and several social institutions in the village were built.

Incorporations
Kirchhofen has belonged to Spreenhagen since September 17, 1961. On December 31, 2001 Braunsdorf was incorporated into Spreenhagen. Hartmannsdorf was added on July 1, 2002. Markgrafpieske was incorporated on October 26, 2003, against the will of the majority of the town's citizens (citizens' petition).

The Protestant parishes of Spreenhagen (village church, church of hope ) and Markgrafpieske belong to the Oderland-Spree parish of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .
The Catholics belong to the parish of St. Johannes Baptist in Fürstenwalde / Spree , 15 km to the east , in the Archdiocese of Berlin . There is also a place of worship in the youth center of the Archdiocese of Berlin in Alt-Buchhorst, Grünheide (Mark) community , 12 km north of Spreenhagen. The village of Lebbin is located in the northernmost tip of the diocese of Görlitz . Responsible is the Heilig Geist parish in Beeskow , to which the Church of St. Maria in Storkow -Hubertushöhe, 10 km south of Lebbin, belongs.
There is also a congregation of the New Apostolic Church Berlin-Brandenburg in Spreenhagen .

Attractions
In the list of architectural monuments in Spreenhagen and in the list of ground monuments in Spreenhagen are the cultural monuments entered in the monuments list of the state of Brandenburg.
- Spreenhagen village church , built in 1855 from yellow brick in the arched style of the Schinkel school . The church furnishings are from 1902.
- Markgrafpieske village church , three-aisled , built from sandstone and brick in neo-Gothic style in the years 1896–1898. With a height of 48 meters, the tower is the highest in the Spreenhagen district. The organ from 1898 comes from the Frankfurt organ builder Wilhelm Sauer .
- Memorial stone from 1975 in the lime avenue of the local part Hartmannsdorf, commemorates the victims of a SS - the massacre that was perpetrated in the night from 21 to 22 April 1945, 16 (according to other sources 20) residents of the local part Hartmann village, which Wanted to surrender to the Red Army without a fight.
