Neuzelle ( Lower Sorbian Nowa Cala ) is an official municipality in the southeast of Brandenburg in the Oder-Spree district , a state-approved resort and known above all for the Neuzelle monastery . It is the seat of the Neuzelle office .

Community structure

According to its main statute, the municipality consists of twelve districts:

Added to that come habitations Forsthaus Treppeln, Heidehof, colony Bomsdorf, Kummro, Neumühle, Schlaubemühle, Schwerzko mill, Vorwerk Bomsdorf, Vorwerk Steindorf and Waldseehotel.

history

Place name

The name Neuzelle was taken over from the Neuzelle Monastery . This comes from Nova Cella , Latin for new cell , derived from the mother monastery Cella , later Altzella .

Until 1928 the village was called Schlaben , in Sorbian Sławin , and has a Slavic name.

History of the districts

  • Bahro ( Barow in Lower Sorbian ) is a lane village that belonged to Neuzelle Monastery until 1817, where wine , hemp and flax were grown. The state roads L 45 and L 452 cross in the village .
  • Bomsdorf (Bónojce) is an old manor village and was the only village in today's office that never belonged to the Neuzelle monastery, it was the ancestral seat of the von Bomsdorff family .
  • Göhlen (Gólin) was already settled in the Bronze Age. Today's village was created in the Middle Ages by German farmers and was named after the Göhlensee (from Lower Sorbian jeleń = deer) south of it .
  • Henzendorf (Hendrichojce) was also settled in the Bronze Age. It was laid out by Sorbian residents and belonged to the Neuzelle monastery. For a long time, a large part of the area south of the village was closed to the group of Soviet forces in Germany as a firing range.
  • Kobbeln (Kobołnja) is a rural village that has belonged to the Neuzelle Monastery since the 15th century.
  • Möbiskruge was assigned to the Neuzelle monastery since its foundation.
  • The current district of Neuzelle was created in 1928 by merging the village of Schlaben with the Neuzelle Abbey District.
  • Schwerzko (Šwjerckow) on the Dorche is a dead end village .
  • Streichwitz (Stśěgojce) had a vineyard north of the place in 1739, because of the mostly sandy soil, the area was later afforested.
  • Treppeln (Trjebule) is located in the Schlaubetal Nature Park and was first mentioned in a document on October 19, 1357.

Administrative history

The area of today's municipality belonged to the Guben district in the province of Brandenburg in the Kingdom of Prussia since 1817 . In 1928 the village of Schlabe was combined with the Neuzelle Abbey District to form the market town of Neuzelle. Since 1952 it belonged to the Eisenhüttenstadt-Land district in the Frankfurt (Oder) district in the GDR. Since 1993, the places have been in the Oder-Spree district in the state of Brandenburg.

On December 31, 2001, the community of Neuzelle was enlarged by ten previously independent communities: Bahro, Bomsdorf, Göhlen, Henzendorf, Kobbeln, Möbiskruge, Schwerzko, Steinsdorf, Streichwitz and Treppeln. Ossendorf was added on October 26, 2003.
