Bomsdorf ( Lower Sorbian Bónojce ) is a district of the municipality of Neuzelle in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg .

history

The village of Bomsdorf, today part of the Neuzelle community , was founded during the time of the German colonization of the Guben district, in close proximity to the Neuzelle Cistercian monastery , which was founded in 1268, and was probably also founded between the middle and the end of the 13th century, i.e. under the government of Henry the Illustrious . It is first mentioned in a document of the monastery Neuzelle as "Boemensdorf", namely on the occasion of the consecration of the church of stone village, the daughter church of Boemensdorfer Parish Church on 18 November 1310. As a patron one is Frenzel of Boemensdorf called, thus the first name known representative of the here on a moated castle resident knight family von Bomsdorff . As the only village in the current Neuzelle office, the manor village never belonged to the monastery. The place name varies in later documents between Bogemstorph (1316), Bogemilsdorf (1327), Bamilsdorff (1387), Boemsdorff (1421), Bomestorff (1429), Bombstorf (1527). The estate was a fief of the lordship of Pförten . It remained in the possession of the von Bomsdorff family until 1698, after which it changed hands more frequently. In 1731 Friedrich von Hayn had a manor palace influenced by the Neuzell Baroque built. A successor, Prot von Wiedebach , changed the building in the classic style in 1850. From 1893 until the end of the Second World War, von Kunow lived in the castle as heirs of the Wiedebach. After that, it was used as refugee shelter and for residential purposes. In 1976 the building lost its monument status. From 1997 to 2000 it was extensively renovated by the Neuzelle community. Today a castle restaurant is operated there.
