Winfried Töpler

Winfried Töpler (* 1962 in Guben ) is a German archivist and historian .

Life

Töpler grew up in Neuzelle and completed vocational training with a high school diploma in Schwarzheide from 1979 to 1982 . From 1984 to 1986 he studied theology in Erfurt and from 1991 to 1995 history and art history at the Free University of Berlin . He has been working in the Görlitz diocese archives since 1995. In 2001 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . His doctoral supervisor was Kaspar Elm . From 2001 to 2005 he studied archival science in Potsdam and graduated as a qualified archivist. In 2004 he became full professor in the office of the diocese of Görlitz and in 2008 full professor. He has headed the diocese archives since 2005 and represents the diocese Görlitz on the board of trustees of the Neuzelle Abbey Foundation.

Töpler deals with the Cistercian monastery Neuzelle , the history of art , especially the Baroque , the church history of Niederlausitz and the diocese of Görlitz, the history of the Cistercian order and the inventory of the art values ​​of the parishes of the diocese of Görlitz.
