Dieter "Didi" Senft (born February 7, 1952 in Reichenwalde near Berlin ), known as El Diablo or Didi the Devil , is a German locksmith , artist , inventor and bicycle designer from Storkow . During the GDR era , Senft was an active amateur cyclist and multiple district champion .

As a passionate cycling fan, Senft has been a permanent fixture on the international cycling scene since 1992 . He made his first appearance in this role at the Tour de France in 1993 , during a stage to Andorra . After that, at the beginning he was mainly present at all major cycling races with his giant bike . Disguised as the devil - hence the nickname - he passionately cheered on the racing drivers around 10 kilometers before the end of each stage until 2014. Often he would sit on an oversized penny farthing at the kilometer mark 25 kilometers from the destination, waving a trident . In the 2005 Tour de France , he appeared on the 11th stage in the green costume to the slogan away from oil for Alliance 90 / The Greens to advertise. Disguised as Santa Claus, Senft opened the Christmas tree season in Brandenburg. His level of awareness goes far beyond the German borders: He was even immortalized in the anime Nasu: Andalusia no Natsu and mentioned in an episode of the American comic strip series Yehuda Moon .

Senft also develops bicycle curiosities and is in the Guinness Book of Records with the world record for the largest tandem bicycle in the world and other bicycles he has built . In 2004 he opened a museum for bicycle curiosities in the Storkow district of New Boston , in which all 17 bicycles with which he is in the Guinness book, and other cycling exhibits are exhibited. In addition to his activities as a cycling fan, Senft is also present at other sporting events, mostly with unusual motif bikes and in his traditional devil costume. So he visited the European Football Championship 2008 in Switzerland and Austria with a specially designed “soccer bike” . Senft wanted to retire in 2014 and then, according to his own statements, could only live on a pension of 500 euros, but in 2015 and 2016 he appeared again in the Tour de France in a devil costume.
